Senior Executive Market Updates – September 2021

Senior Executive Market Updates
With over 40 years of working with Senior Executives and an active network of 15,000+ Search Consultants worldwide, InterExec has experienced the wide range of ups and downs in the Senior Executive recruitment market.

The Covid period has clearly been a unique time and had an enormous and significant effect on corporations globally. Its long term effects are still unravelling. Nevertheless as we enter the autumn period the market for outstanding management talent is now increasingly active and whilst volatile in some business sectors real opportunities to find your next major role are emerging.

Financial Services
Things are definitely better and there is movement in Audit and Actuarial as well as traditional Investment Banking roles. Family offices and investment firms as well as the interim market are increasingly active.

Additionally native investment in the Middle East continues at a pace. This is endemic of the continuing trend of financial entities in the region investing aggressively in an attempt to move away from an economic reliance on fossil fuels. The upshoot being that candidates with scale-up or transformation experience across a multitude of sectors remain in high demand in the GCC.

There is growing activity in Digitalisation and FinTech.

Lots of things give cause for optimism and as these opportunities develop the momentum will certainly be more sustained.

Healthcare & Hospitality
In Asia, we are seeing a notable uptick in opportunities in the Healthcare and Medical Devices sectors, particularly from the Private Equity space.

In the Hospitality / Leisure space senior roles are starting to reappear again since pre-Covid. Search Consultants in the our network are confident business will return but as yet the Leisure, Hospitality and Fashion sectors, primarily in the UK, remain quiet.

Consultancy
Particularly in the UK, candidates with a background with major consulting firms remain in high demand.

An Overview
This time around, instead of it being hope, it feels more like a reality that we are going to return to a somewhat “traditional”, busier market for this time of year. This comes not only from feedback from the market, but from other factors that are helping us move forward, such as the continued vaccine roll out.

To quote one highly experienced Search Consultant, “…my world is very busy, still holding strong with senior people for roles that were cut back at the beginning of the pandemic.”

As the market becomes increasingly active in many sectors and geographic markets this period may be a good time to consider new opportunities.
