The US is gearing up for an uptick in market activity post-inauguration although there remain very mixed feelings on the outlook; some spaces see increased deregulation by the incoming administration as an opportunity for growth, however spaces such as technology (notably consumer tech) are concerned by the prospect of additional tariffs and restrictions on imports and exports.
Looking at the financial and professional services sectors the high level of activity in January reflects trends in the open market. There are plenty of roles in the market but these are not evenly distributed. This is particularly true of professional services where there is demonstrable specificity.
From a sector perspective there is continued evidence of increased activity in the areas of taxation, restructuring, investment banking, legal, education and PE.
