Overall the market in Q4 has been as expected both active and positive. Whilst globally we are seeing different levels of activity related to regional economic and political situations, broadly most key business sectors are experiencing a good demand for experienced senior executives.

Notably in the tech space in the UK and Europe there has been a flurry of activity. Furthermore, demand for CFOs in the UK regardless of sector seems relatively high whereas in Western Europe it’s reportedly still slower.

Broadly speaking, the US has been behind both the UK and Western Europe in terms of recovery, but with the Presidential Election now over the network view is that we will begin to see a stronger market especially after the Thanksgiving holiday week and then through to the end of the year, as well as a particularly strong start to 2025.

The general view of search consultants is that the market is definitely picking up. Having experienced a relatively slow year to Q3 there is now a significant increase in new roles and projects for 2025.

From a sector perspective there is continued evidence of increased activity in the areas of taxation, advisory, investment banking, legal, education and PE. The market in the major geographic regions reflects that as well as a strengthening market across all the financial and technology sectors.
